About This Blog

During the week, I help create websites. On the weekends, I like to eat, make, and think about candy bars. This obsession started in early 2005 when I unsuccessfully attempted to make an Almond Joy. What I created was a delicious lump of chocolate, coconut, and almonds, but it wasn’t a candy bar. I wanted to learn to make bars that not only tasted good, but had the same structure and textures as the real ones. Ever since, I’ve been busy working away in the “lab” (i.e. my apartment kitchen). With the help of my tempering machine and some basic equipment, I’ve recently started to master a few recipes.

On this blog, I will be sharing some of my recipes as I perfect them from time to time. But more often, I will be writing reviews for candy bars I have tried. Sometimes, these will be the classics and standard fare you’d find at a convenience store. Other times, I will seek out some high-end and exotic confections.
